Cherished, adored and most loved by his wife Gaye (Hart) and his sister Geraldine (Gerri) Yachetti and her partner Stanley Augustyniak, sister-in-law Deborah Hart and her children. Gene leaves in grief, his wonderful family, friends and neighbours whom he embraced with a quiet, gentle and caring kindness throughout his life. Gene's family is grateful for their support. His family was caught off-guard after test results received two weeks ago revealed the back pain he recently experienced was an aggressive form of cancer that had spread throughout his entire body before it was noticed. He was proud to have been born and raised in Hamilton's east end and to attend St. John the Baptist Catholic Elementary School, Bishop Ryan Catholic Secondary School and to graduate from McMaster University. Gene was a #1 fan of Boston Red Sox and the Stelco Employee Fastball League. From childhood, his family vacationed on the Bruce Peninsula and this continued throughout his life with a most special summer cottage in Lion's Head that Gene called home. Cremation has taken place. Gene is resting at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East (near James) on Thursday, June 22 from 5 to 9 p.m. with service in the Chapel on Friday, June 23 at 9:45 a.m. Following the service, Gene will be laid to rest beside his Mom, Dad and sister at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, Burlington.
